For the 6th Annual "Walk a Mile For Martin" Event, students, teachers, and families will walk at least one mile around the neighborhood in order to march against some sort of injustice that they personally choose such as: bullying, hunger, poverty, or educational inequality. The goal is to get our school communities to walk for a positive purpose. They could even dedicate their mile to a person who has sacrificed for them. All participants have the option of walking or running as many miles as they would like.

Walking and physical movement played such a critical role in the progression of the Civil Rights Era. The underlying theme of the Civil Rights Movement was sacrifice. “Walk a Mile for Martin” embodies the spirit of sacrifice that Martin Luther King and countless others made for our everyday freedoms.

This is an all ages event and all local schools are welcome. The event will feature diversity gifts; healthy snacks; hot cocoa; uplifting music; and kid friendly activities.
