This brunch will help welcome in the new LGBTQ Center! Meet some folx and grab some food for Queer Brunch. This biweekly program brings together LGBTQ+ folks from across Grounds to connect and build community. Everyone is welcome!

Join us for a film series this spring that honors the capacity of women to burn down the world in various justifiable ways. Ever since the #MeToo and #TimesUp movements erupted, public figures such as Matt Lauer, Bill Cosby and Jeffrey Epstein have been exposed for their exploitation of women and girls. Many people—women especially—feel as though they are trapped in a continual state of rage and trauma. This film series is designed to remind us—and in many cases, celebrate—the myriad ways that women fight back against the hostile climate in which they live and work.
UVA will be opening four student centers (two new and two re-located) in Newcomb Hall on Thursday, February 6th. Please join us for the grand opening receptions for these new centers, where you’ll have the opportunity to tour each space and learn more about how they will contribute to the programming and support for our increasingly diverse student body.

The University Library will participate in the University MLK Celebration through FACTUALITY, a facilitated dialogue and board game that simulates real-life stories in America. Participants will take on the role of one of the diverse group of characters that encounter limitations or advantages based on the intersection of their race, sexual orientation, faith, and gender.

Throughout the 44-year history of the Office of African-American Affairs (OAAA), Black gospel music has been a consistent form of celebration within the Black experience at the University. For the last few years, in partnership with many units across the University, the OAAA has hosted a Black Gospel Explosion during the University's Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration. This year, in collaboration with the Division for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion and the University Library System, OAAA is bringing John P.
The extraordinary tale of Harriet Tubman's escape from slavery and transformation into one of America's greatest heroes, whose courage, ingenuity, and tenacity freed hundreds of slaves and changed the course of history. The movie will be shown on both Friday, January 24 and Saturday, January 25 from 7-9 PM. The movie showing is free and open to all UVA community and the public.
