#ReadingJulianBond: An All-Day Virtual Event Commemorating the Legacy of Julian Bond

In continuing their tradition of hosting an August event to commemorate Julian Bond’s legacy, the Carter G. Woodson Institute—in partnership with the Center for Digital Editing—will hold the following activities on Thursday, August 13:

  • Virtual Public Reading (10:00 AM to 4:00 PM): Join at any time during the event to read and listen to passages from the schedule of selected speeches.
  • Virtual Panel Discussion (4:30 to 5:30 PM): Join for a panel discussion about the legacy of Julian Bond’s commitments to social justice. Speakers will include distinguished scholars Jeanne Theoharis (Brooklyn College) and La TaSha Levy (Washington University), as well as UVA student activist Zyahna Bryant and Duke student writer/activist Rebekah Barber.

You will need a computer, tablet, or smartphone with access to the Internet for these activities. Please note that the event will also be live-streamed and recorded.
