Our Work
In furtherance of the University's commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, EOCR staff are responsible for the following activities:
- Equal Employment Opportunity: analyzing and monitoring employment practices in support of equitable opportunity.
- Compliance: monitoring the University and Medical Center's compliance with equal opportunity and civil rights laws and related University policies, as well as assisting with responses to inquiries from federal and state governmental agencies, such as the Equal Opportunity Employment Commission and the Office for Civil Rights of the U.S. Department of Education.
- Complaint Resolution: investigating and/or otherwise resolving complaints of discrimination, harassment, and/or retaliation.
- Information: disseminating information about laws, policies, and procedures regarding equal opportunity and civil rights laws and related University policies for students, faculty, staff, and Medical Center employees.
- Recruitment and Hiring: facilitating and monitoring faculty and staff recruitment and hiring and training faculty and staff regarding applicable laws and best practices for search and hiring processes.
- Training: training faculty, staff, students, and Medical Center employees about their rights and responsibilities under applicable equal opportunity and civil rights laws and related University policies.
- Partnership: collaborating with University and Medical Center partners, including students, to support initiatives and activities that promote a welcoming, inclusive environment for everyone.
