Recruitment and Hiring Process Overview
The Office for Equal Opportunity and Civil Rights (EOCR) works closely with hiring officials, search chairs, managers, human resources representatives, and the Office of the Executive Vice President and Provost to ensure that the University's recruitment, hiring, and other selection processes are conducted fairly and consistently.
All persons are considered for employment and advancement based on merit in relation to the knowledge, skills, and experience necessary to perform the essential functions of a position. The University does not discriminate on the basis of age, color, disability, gender identity or expression, marital status, national or ethnic origin, political affiliation, race, religion, sex (including pregnancy), sexual orientation, veteran status, and family and genetic information.
Without regard to the type of employment being offered, the primary objectives of the recruitment and selection process are:
- Recruitment of the best qualified applicants;
- Expeditious hiring of such candidates;
- Participation of qualified candidates from underrepresented groups; and
- Equitable and unbiased treatment of all candidates, in accordance with state and federal law as well as the values and mission of the University.
The recruitment and selection of future faculty and staff is one of the most important contributions University stakeholders will make in service to the University. EOCR asks that all persons involved in these processes take seriously their responsibilities to engage in fair and equitable practices.
